Thank you educators!
It’s Educator Appreciation Week, and phew, it couldn’t come fast enough this year. Not that one week is near enough to express our appreciation for all educators in a typical year, and as we know, this year has been far from typical.
WEA members have collectively done a great job responding to the pandemic, with creativity, flexibility, and dedication to our students, no matter what this year threw at us.
More than most, the past year has powerfully demonstrated that it takes all of us working together to support our students. We’ve seen bus drivers delivering meals to families in need. Paraeducators, PTs, OTs and office staff pitched in to deliver supplies to students. Nurses advocated for safety in our buildings. Counselors and other mental health staff worked to support our students and frankly, a lot of us, during these trying times. Custodians cleaned and painted buildings while they were closed. And the tech staff! New computers, software and apps to identify, install and train us and our students. There are so many job types and people who keep our schools running for our students, whether school is in our buildings or on the other end of a screen. Whatever your role, thank you!
To help elevate your great work, WEA is running ads on Pandora and Spotify. You can check out a couple of them here and here, or on YouTube. And keep an eye, or ear, on our social media accounts, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter where we’ll be sharing these and other posts over the course of Educator Appreciation Week.
Thank you, educators, for all you do for our students.
