Peer Mediation

What is Peer Mediation?

Mediation/Facilitation Program

Peers Helping Peers

Program:  The WEA Peer Mediation Program is a service which provides, at no cost to members, trained mediators and facilitators to help members resolve workplace disputes or conflicts in a safe environment while maintaining confidentiality.

Goal: The goal of the Mediation/Facilitation Program is to assist members in resolving workplace disputes using mediation or facilitation.

Eligibility: Any member of the local, WEA, and NEA is eligible. ESP, certificated and higher education cases are accepted and can address issues such as:

  • Interpersonal disputes between colleagues
  • School, department, team, or grade level system dysfunction
  • Conflicts between supervisors and employees

Mediators:  All of our mediators are required, minimally, to successfully complete the Snohomish County Dispute Resolution Center's training, pass the requisite test, and meet the observation requirements in order to be considered as mediators for our program. Detailed files are not kept, all notes resulting from any mediation/facilitation session are destroyed at the conclusion of the session, and confidentiality is closely maintained.

To Access Program: If there is a willingness by the parties to the dispute to consider mediation or facilitation, a call to the WEA Fourth Corner can begin the process of moving the conflict towards resolution or you may download the pdf files linked below and send or fax the information to our office.
