What is Peer Support & Mediation?

Program Description: Peer Support provides a mechanism which makes help and advice available to members in a safe and non-threatening manner.  Print a Description Sheet

 

Goal:  The goal of the Peer Support Program is to assist members in evaluating options in their professional life.

A.                Participation is by self-referral of a member seeking assistance with professional skills.

B.                 The analysis is based on self-made goals, not district-made goals.

C.                 The analysis is confidential.

 

ESP, certificated, and higher education cases are accepted and address issues such as:

 

                    Interpersonal disputes

                    School, department, or grade level system dysfunction

                    Individual, professional, and personal crisis

                    Skill improvement

                    Skill deficiencies

 

Eligibility:  Any member of the local, WEA, and NEA is eligible who is not on probation or officially informed that she/he will be so placed.

 

Consultants:  All of our consultants have reputations in the profession for being competent and compassionate.  Little paperwork is required, detailed files are not kept, there is no cost to the client, and confidentiality is closely maintained.
